Sunday 18th May – Agroforestry Open Weekend
Everyone welcome for a free tour of the agroforestry plantings at Oakbrook Farm! We’ll focus on the orchard and the evolving silvo-horticulture system, but also take in shelterbelts, coppices, tree hay and basketry willow.
Saturday 14 June – orchard work party
In a radical break with tradition, we’re trying a Saturday morning work party this month! There is plenty of scything to be done, as well as a bit of general tlc for the trees as we go. Plus if anyone wants a more sedentary, but potentially prickly job, our little tree nursery could do with weeding!
Sunday 29th June – Scything workshop
Come and learn the magical art of scything with us! Three hour morning workshop taught by Kai Lange. Small group. Suitable for beginners, and those feeling a little rusty. We will cover mowing, sharpening, and peening. Booking essential.
Sunday 13th July – orchard work party
This month is likely to be more scything. Come and hone your scything skills, or give it a try for the first time. There is also plenty of work for those not fancying wielding a scythe, including raking and mulching, and a bit of hand weeding.
Saturday 2nd August – orchard work party
We’ll be busy scything again to manage the wildflowers – and the docks and rough grass – under the orchard trees. Plus mulching, weeding and adjusting guards. Everyone welcome!
