We are a group of volunteers creating an orchard at Oakbrook Farm, on the edge of Stroud. We planted our first 22 trees in 2020, along with some soft fruit and daffodils. We now have around 170 trees in the field, with a few more coming along in our on site nursery. The orchard is organic and biodynamic certified, and once the trees start cropping, we aim to supply seasonal fruit shares to local families.

The orchard is currently entirely volunteer run, and we’d love for you join us! We hold monthly work parties on Sunday mornings. In summer we are mostly busy scything in the tree rows to manage the grass and wildflowers. In winter we work our way through the tree rows pruning, and adjusting the tree guards. In future years we also hope to be harvesting loads of delicious fruit.

Our trees are laid out in nine rows across the field, which we share with several other tenants. In between the tree rows, most of the rest of the field is used by our friends at Stroud Community Agriculture, growing field scale vegetables to supply their members. The field is also home to Kate’s beautiful flower garden, and a plot being developed by the The Grove, a home education project.
