Our work parties are fun, social and productive – come and join us! Details of upcoming work parties are listed here, with general info about work parties below.

Sunday 9th August, 10:30 – 1pm
There is loads of scything to do! Just about anyone can learn to use a scythe, and you’re welcome to practice on our grass and wildflowers. For those who don’t fancy wielding a scythe, there is lots of raking to do behind the scythers, and also work adjusting tree guards and doing a little bit of summer pruning.
Sunday 6th September, 10:30am – 1pm
We’ll still be scything in September, but we’re also hoping to have a few apples to pick and share out amongst the team. We may even be working on setting up our new base in the field.
Sunday 4th October, 10:30am – 1pm
This is likely to be our last scything session of the year, so come and get your fix before it’s too late! Hopefully we’ll also be celebrating some apple abundance and our first little harvest in the orchard…
General info for work parties
Everyone is welcome – no experience necessary. Please come and join for as long or as little as you like, and take it at any pace that works for you. Kids are welcome, but you must take full responsibility for any children you bring with you.
Do wrap up warm (or bring sun cream and a hat), bring snacks and drinks if you think you’ll need them, and bear in mind that the orchard site is pretty exposed. I’ll do my best to provide some flapjacks to keep us fuelled up.
We generally have all the tools we need on site, but if you would like to work with your favourite spade, secateurs or your own scythe, please bring them along.
It’s helpful if you can text or email to let me know you’re coming so I have a rough idea of numbers. If you need directions, have any questions, or want to check we’re there on the day if the weather is dodgy, please do get in touch.
